What it means
The safety thermostat or steam generator temperature probe detected a temperature above the maximum allowed limit (typically 145-155 C). The board has de-energized the heating elements and locked the oven in alarm mode.
Probable causes
- Massive limescale on the boiler heating elements preventing heat transfer.
- Temperature regulation probe faulty, not cutting off heating.
- Power relay on the board with welded contacts, continuously feeding the elements.
- No water in the boiler with elements exposed and overheated.
Where to start
Check whether the boiler contains water. Open the manual drain valve on the boiler (if fitted). Does water come out, or only residual steam?
