What it means
The presence sensor does not detect people moving in the area, lights do not turn on automatically. Or the sensor generates false activations without any actual presence, causing unwanted switch-ons and energy waste.
Probable causes
- PIR sensor with dirty or obstructed lens
- Sensor coverage angle not suitable for the room geometry
- Sensor sensitivity set too low (does not detect) or too high (false activations)
- Warm air currents from HVAC system triggering the PIR
- Sensor faulty or with outdated firmware
