What it means
Aged or water/sediment-contaminated diesel clogs filters and reduces delivery: the genset starts but loses power or shuts down under load.
Probable causes
- Storage beyond diesel shelf life
- Water and sediments accumulated in the tank
- Condensation in the tank from thermal cycles
- Saturated or never-replaced fuel filters
Where to start
Sample from the tank bottom and at the filters: check for water, sediments and fuel appearance (cloudy, dark, separators full of water).
