What it means

A safety module (F-module) has entered passivation state: the safety I/O values are replaced with safe values (typically 0). This occurs when the safety system detects an inconsistency between redundant channels, a PROFIsafe communication error, or a hardware fault in the F-module. The machine stops because safety consents are removed.

Probable causes

Where to start

Identify the passivated F-module from the online diagnostics (in TIA Portal: Safety Administration, in Studio 5000: Safety Task Faults). Does the module report a PROFIsafe/CIP Safety communication error?
