What it means
Grinder with incorrect dose or beans not dropping into the grinding chamber. The result is an under-dosed, inconsistent, or absent coffee shot. The most common causes are an empty hopper, worn burrs, or incorrect micrometric adjustment.
Probable causes
- Hopper empty or beans bridging in the hopper neck.
- Burrs worn, no longer retaining and pulling beans through.
- Micrometric adjustment set too coarse, dose dropping too fast.
- Grinder motor jammed or start capacitor faulty.
Where to start
Check the grinder hopper. Is it empty or are the beans forming a bridge and not dropping toward the burrs? Try moving the beans with a spoon.
